Alignment adjustments are among the most common maintenance and repairs performed on vehicles. Misaligned wheels are the leading cause of tire wear and can substantially decrease the life of a vehicle's tires. Correcting the alignment of a vehicle's wheels is a relatively simple procedure. However, finding the right alignment specs is not always so easy.

The only primary sources are manufacturers, dealerships, and repair manuals, and none of these sources provide free online access to alignment specs. This doesn't mean the information isn't out there, it just means that sometimes it takes a little snooping around.

When looking for a vehicle's alignment specs, three things to keep in mind are:

  1. that the specs must be just that--specific to the exact vehicle rather than just a make or model;
  2. the quality of the source, and;
  3. how frequently the information is going to be used.

It probably doesn't make sense to subscribe to an online database or spend $100 on a manual, but either of those options might make sense for someone who frequently adjusts the alignment on multiple vehicles.
